Drugs Dragons, Aluminum Knot Eye, and Burning Sons at Frank's Power Plant
The festering brainchild of music scene stalwart Luke Chappelle, Drugs Dragons is a riff-heavy psychedelic-sleaze outfit that released a terrific self-titled album in 2010. Last year’s Milorganight EP was a slightly slicker, more focused affair than Drugs Dragons, though it was still stuffed with tongue-in-cheek, doom-and-gloom monster vocals and songs with titles like “Burning Hell” and “Pestilence In The Flesh.” If that doesn’t tip you off to the band’s toxic sensibilities and gleefully depraved gallows humor, then perhaps lines like “I see dead mouths / chatter in the dark. / I see dead mouths / gather in the park,” will. This is metal depravity of the highest order.
