Dusty Medical Records 5th Anniversary Party at Club Garibaldi
A Milwaukee-based power trio named after an obscure Who B-side, Call Me Lightning makes up for its relative lack of size by aggressively pumping up its sound until it approximates Who’s Next by way of Black Flag. The band’s 2007 sophomore effort, Soft Skeletons, maintains an exhilarating adrenaline rush up until the propulsive title track at the album’s midpoint, and while the rest of the album doesn’t quite catch up, it’s still a deeply satisfying record. CML recently finished its third record When I Am Gone My Blood Will Be Free, but record label issues have kept it from being released.
