Elvis Costello And The Imposters at BMO Harris Pavilion (Summerfest)
Elvis Costello went back the rock roots he’s been going back to habitually of late on 2009’s Secret, Profane & Sugarcane, an album celebrated (or at least appreciated) for its casual, tossed-off quality. “Tossed-off” is relative qualifier for Costello, of course, as even his simple exercises count as significant events this far into his career. His latest exercise is 2010’s National Ransom, another country/folk-leaning album produced by T Bone Burnett and featuring guest appearances by Vince Gill and Leon Russell.
