Every Time I Die, The Acacia Strain, Vanna, Hundreth, and No Bragging Rights at The Rave/Eagles Ballroom
Buffalo powerhouse Every Time I Die has been injecting increasingly large doses of frenzied rock ’n’ roll—of the Hot Snakes and The Bronx variety—and some Southern-style guitar licks into its puke-streaked post-hardcore. It’s still not far from the classic mold of the screaming thrash band, and sometimes reminiscent of a group of extras from Conan The Barbarian undergoing anesthesia-free dentistry. Or, to quote one of the more succinct lyrics: “AAAAAAARGH!” But it’s not all about vocal cord-shredding aggression: The band occasionally shifted the focus to melody on its Epitaph Records debut, 2009’s New Junk Aesthetic, and ethereal exploration in “Indian Giver”, from its sixth album and Epitaph follow-up, 2012’s Ex Lives.
