The Fatty Acids, Canopies, and WC Tank at Linneman's
Milwaukee’s tireless Fatty Acids are one of the city’s première groups, thanks in part to a constant stream of boisterous, high-energy shows. The band’s 2010 debut, Stop Berries, Berries, And Berries, Berries, was a terrific album full of songs that lamented problems both personal and political with quirky, psych-synth eccentricity. Against all odds, The Acids’ second full-length—which arrived last year—is neither a hasty rehash nor an unfocused departure. Instead, Leftover Monsterface manages to be quite different from Berries while still retaining the band’s definitive sound. The new album is less polished in terms of production and hooks—and it’s a little weirder—but it widens the group’s sonic scope and doesn’t rob fans of anything they would miss. Another one of Milwaukee’s best groups, Canopies, opens the show.
