The Fatty Acids + Sat. Nite Duets at Linneman's
Milwaukee’s tireless Fatty Acids are one of the city’s premier groups, thanks in part to a constant stream of boisterous, high-energy shows. The Acids’ second full-length, 2011’s Leftover Monsterface, manages to be quite different from its 2010 debut, while still retaining the band’s definitive sound. The album is less polished in terms of production and hooks—and it’s a little weirder—but it widens the group’s sonic scope and doesn’t rob fans of anything they would miss. Sat. Nite Duets’ excellent Summer Of Punishment finds the band letting its guard down and grappling with some genuine concerns, if only for a moment. Sure, there are still plenty of lyrics about getting shit-faced and carpooling with AC/DC, but scratch the shambling surface and you’ll find a wistful, winning tribute to gauzy nostalgia and misspent summer youth. Tonight, both bands celebrate the release of a split seven-inch with New York City’s Radical Dads and Dinosaur Feathers, Torrential Zen.
