Fish Fry & A Flick: Darkside Of Oz at Discovery World
You can ignore the man behind the curtain, but you can’t deny The Wizard Of Oz’s iconic status in American culture. Plenty of its dialogue is firmly part of the English language, and it propelled Judy Garland into stardom and near-sainthood in the eyes of her many gay fans. Already a psychedelic Technicolor wonder, the film gained further traction with stoners when eerie synchronicities between it and Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon became the stuff of mid-’90s Internet message-board legend. It was technologically impossible for Floyd to match their music to the movie during the album's 1972 sessions, but it can't be coincidence that "Money" cues up just as Garland arrives in Munchkinland. Right?
