The Get Down at Mad Planet
Now into its ninth year, The Get Down has long been one of Milwaukee’s best dance parties, with DJs Andy Noble, Brent Goodsell, and company spinning ultra-rare and uber-funky 45s from the golden age of soul music. In 2012, the event scaled back its twice-a-month Mad Planet residency to a single show per month. No matter: The night still draws some of the most diverse, fun-loving, and dance-happy crowds in town. If anything, the once-a-month schedule only makes The Get Down more rare (like its records), and even more vital. Tonight’s edition will be the last before the annual New Year’s Eve blowout at Turner Hall.
