Grace Potter And The Nocturnals and Langhorne Slim at The Pabst Theater

Grace Potter is still in her 20s, but her warm, gutsy voice sits comfortably beside those of vets such as Lucinda Williams and Bonnie Raitt. With their touches of classic rock and Southern soul, albums like 2005’s  Nothing But The Water and 2007’s This Is Somewhere found a home among fans who miss the good old days of Sheryl Crow’s artistic peak, whenever that was. Seemingly intent on being prime-time ready, the band’s 2010 self-titled album was polished to a much higher gloss than previous efforts, landing the band on Rolling Stone’s list of Best New Bands of 2010. Its newest record, 2012’s The Lion The Beast The Beat, sheds even more country influences in favor of experimental rock and touches of electronica.
