The Helio Sequence + Ramona Falls at Shank Hall
It took a little while to soak in, but The Helio Sequence’s 2008 album Keep Your Eyes Ahead eventually revealed itself to be an arresting and rewarding listen. Layered with keys and drums from Benjamin Weikel and Brandon Summers’ vocals and guitar, the group’s fourth album is as complex as it is vulnerable, with equal parts energy and pensiveness. Now on tour behind its new album, Negotations, the duo is joined by Ramona Falls, the excellent new project of Brent Knopt, former member of Menomena, the Pacific Northwest compatriot that contributed to the scintillating swirl of “Converter,” a 2010 Record Store Day 7-inch split with The Helio Sequence.
