Jim Gaffigan at The Pabst Theater
Jim Gaffigan has done virtually everything a stand-up comedian who first broke in the ’90s could do: He (briefly) had his own sitcom (Welcome To New York), he’s been on Letterman and Conan countless times, and he’s racked up a large number of memorable bit parts in TV shows and character roles in films. Yes, he’s even reached that hallmark of comedic success, the Sierra Mist commercial. But if Gaffigan is a great comic actor, he’s an excellent stand-up, as evidenced on 2009’s King Baby. His style is observational, but he’s hyper-aware of his own mundanity—it’s a combination that results in a hilarious, whispering “inner voice” that comments on his act throughout the show. Here, Gaffigan is back for the second straight year to close the year out with a two-night stand at the Pabst.
