Jim Gaffigan at The Pabst Theater
By now, anyone with a modicum of interest in stand-up comedy is at least remotely familiar with Jim Gaffigan, the Midwestern-bred comedian whose laziness-based humor has tiptoed between highlighting the absurdities of consumerism (see his “Hot Pockets” routine) and rationalizing the pleasures of gluttony (hence eight minutes of bacon jokes). No less ubiquitous is Jim Gaffigan the actor: He’s frequently a pleasantly unexpected cameo on shows ranging from Law & Order to The Flight Of The Conchords. That said, stand-up remains Gaffigan’s bread and butter, and with material from 2012’s Mr. Universe album (and his new book, Dad Is Fat) in his repertoire, expect a slew of foods and restaurants to be equally lambasted and glorified. Even a “bread and butter” routine wouldn’t be too surprising.
