Having explored the purity of experimental reverb with his partner Alex Somers as Jónsi & Alex, and with his band Sigur Rós on indefinite hiatus, vocalist Jónsi Birgisson breaks another level of new ground as, well, himself. On his 2010 solo debut Go, the epic soundscapes have been scaled down and Birgisson’s voice is now the central focus. Even with its poppier elements, there’s still plenty of sweeping drama in Jónsi’s sound as layered vocals and theatrical melodies abound.
