Kings Go Forth, Lovanova, and The Sandmen at Club Garibaldi
Milwaukee band Kings Go Forth quickly became one of the city's most popular because of its raw and retro R&B sound, which employs funky backbeats, big horns, three-part vocals, and naturalistic, lo-fi production. Earlier this year the outside world officially took notice when David Byrne's Luaka Bop label signed the band. While the release of KGF's full-length debut has been pushed back to spring, Luaka Bop plans to release a 12-inch of "Don't Take My Shadow" in December featuring a remix by legendary remix innovator (and 12-inch inventor) Tom Moulton. It sounds like the makings of a great dance record, though seeing KGF live is a guaranteed party.
