King's Horses, Ampline, The United Sons Of Toil, and Perry at Y-Not III
Proponents of Milwaukee’s emerging noise-rock scene seem to overlook King’s Horses, perhaps because the principals involved spend so much time in other, higher-profile projects. Bassist Jack Packard is a filmmaker whose work has been a big hit on FunnyOrDie.com, and singer-guitarist Matt Slater keeps busy with local shoegaze band White, Wrench, Conservatory. But fans of the noisier stuff don’t want to miss out on King’s Horses’ squalling guitars and loud-quiet-loud dynamics, which recall mid-’90s indie-rock titans like Polvo and Archers of Loaf. Here the band celebrates the release of its new EP, which will be free with the price of admission.
