MAM After Dark: Carnival at Milwaukee Art Museum
Milwaukee isn’t exactly stuffed with snooty, elitist art galleries, but even the city’s many welcoming galleries and museums can be daunting to non-art folks. The Milwaukee Art Museum’s “MAM After Dark” series aims to bring everyone into the art fold by throwing a good old-fashioned party complete with music, live entertainment, and plenty of drinks. (Oh, and art!) This month’s “Carnival” installment features Dead Man’s Carnival, a Milwaukee vaudeville group that works overtime with live music, gymnastics, burlesque, juggling, clowns, fire tricks, comedy, and so-called “death-defying stunts” packed into a single, overstuffed performance. Caricature drawings, specialty drink tastings, and temporary tattoos round out the big-top-themed event.
