Mark Sultan, Trent Fox And The Tenants, John The Savage, and The Lonesome Savages at Club Garibaldi
Whether it’s with The King Khan & BBQ Show, The Spaceshifts, The Ding-Dongs, The Almighty Defenders, or as a solo artist, the voice of Mark Sultan is unmistakable. Sultan is like an Indiana Jones of vintage sounds, rescuing the all-American genres of garage, rockabilly, and doo-wop from the forces of darkness. One of his latest recordings, War On Rock ’N’ Roll—taped live in one take on half-inch reel and four-track cassette—is part of his ongoing mission to save the music he loves from the eroding influence of the record industry and popular taste. He kills it himself before these nefarious forces “destroy its soul for good ... in the hopes that the future generations will wash it off and resurrect/resuscitate it.”
