MELT 1-Year Anniversary at Club Garibaldi
The Demix is Milwaukee’s self-described “dark knight of electronic experimentalism,” and he whips up a disturbing cacophony of atmospheric noise, film score samples, and spoken word. Songs like “Lights Out” are eerily cinematic blasts of unsettling, apocalyptic screeching and slippery, reptilian beats. Worth seeking out is 2009’s heady Escape From Jones Island mix, which was supposedly inspired by a death-defying late-night bike ride. Tonight, The Demix celebrates the one-year anniversary of MELT, a monthly electronic music series at Club Garibaldi. Also in attendance will be Pressboard, the moniker for Collections Of Colonies Of Bees member Jim Schoenecker. The project combines a mishmash of modular synthesis and waves of oscillating tones to create its own unique atmospheric presence.
