The Demix is Milwaukee’s self-described “dark knight of electronic experimentalism,” and he whips up a disturbing cacophony of atmospheric noise, film score samples, and spoken word. Songs like “Lights Out” are eerily cinematic blasts of unsettling, apocalyptic screeching and slippery, reptilian beats. Worth seeking out is 2009’s heady Escape From Jones Island mix, which was supposedly inspired by a death-defying late-night bike ride. The Demix is now curating MELT, a monthly electronic music series at Club Garibaldi in Milwaukee.
