The Musical Box: A Trick Of The Tail at The Pabst Theater
The Musical Box could technically be described as a tribute act, but what the Canadian band manages to accomplish is far more impressive than that might indicate. The Musical Box usually specializes in note-for-note recreations of Genesis concerts from the band’s theatrical, Peter Gabriel-fronted era. Using vintage equipment (as well as costumes, lights, and props), they tackle such sacred cows as Selling England By The Pound and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. For the second year in a row, The Musical Box goes outside its usual rules for its stop at the Pabst, performing 1976’s A Trick Of The Tail, the first Genesis album with Phil Collins as lead singer after Gabriel’s departure.
