Nosferatu at Times Cinema
The 1922 German horror film Nosferatu—seemingly the only unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula—follows the escapades of the terrifying Transylvanian bloodsucker Count Orlok a.k.a. Nosferatu. The Count, as vampires often do, decides to speculate in real estate in the fictional city of Wisborg. Thus enters Hutter, a real estate broker of sorts, who visits the Count’s castle and discovers his true form. Nosferatu and coffin then board a ship bound for Wisborg, leaving a trail of bloodless bodies in their wake. Max Schreck and a lot of makeup star as Count Orlok in this influential classic. Tonight’s screening will be accompanied by a live, original score from The Rats & People Motion Picture Orchestra.
