Passion Pit, Youngblood Hawke, and Hollerado at The Riverside Theater

Passion Pit’s first single, “Sleepyhead,” was a dreamy bit of electro-pop, impossibly dense but perfectly leavened by frontman Michael Angelakos’ high-pitched warble of a voice. It all but guaranteed interest in the band’s debut, Manners, which came loaded with songs to buoy late-night dorm dance parties well past quiet hours. Also buoyed: Passion Pit’s fortunes. The band soon opened for Muse, and tracks from Manners—“Moth’s Wings” and “Sleepyhead,” especially—absolutely owned music placement in 2010, popping up everywhere from Gossip Girl to video game trailers. Luckily for both fans of the band and for ad agencies, the band has a new record, Gossamer, a massive yet elegant follow-up worthy of future ubiquity.
