Paul Thorn and Peter Mulvey at Turner Hall Ballroom
Milwaukee native Peter Mulvey began his career in the folk-rock band Big Sky but quickly took his solo act on the road, relocating first to Ireland and then to Boston, where he spent time honing his craft in the subway (a venue he revisited for 2002’s Ten Thousand Mornings). Since the early ’90s, Mulvey has recorded a series of critically acclaimed albums, narrated PBS documentaries, and played shows everywhere from coffeehouses to the Kennedy Center. In 2009 he released Letters From A Flying Machine, which intersperses songs showcasing his first-rate guitar work with spoken-word pieces addressed to his nieces and nephews. Furthering his status as an American raconteur, Mulvey’s latest releases The Good Stuff and its companion, Chaser, cull together covers of songs by Leonard Cohen, Willie Nelson, Duke Ellington, and more.
