The Posies, Brendan Benson, and Aqueduct at Turner Hall Ballroom

Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow are probably going to have to die before The Posies get any respect, which makes their tenacity that much more impressive. After fickly toying with the notion of a final show since their supposed swan song, 1998’s Success, The Posies returned with Every Kind Of Light in 2005. Both Auer and Stringfellow have since been busy either going solo or playing with other folks, like filling in live supporting roles in Big Star or R.E.M. Their heart-on for power-pop is still beating on the new Blood/Candy. Brendan Benson had a devoted following of his own for years before he ever strapped on a guitar to play with Jack White and Co. in The Raconteurs. The Michigan-born songwriter had been weaving his own practiced power-pop since the mid-’90s, making him a good match for the Posies.
