Present Music: Thanksgiving: A Musical Feast at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist
Present Music’s “Thanksgiving: A Musical Feast” holiday concert promises a wealth of multi-cultural music, with the Milwaukee Children’s Choir, the Bucks Native American Singing and Drumming Group, and the Milwaukee Choral Artists joining the always adventurous Milwaukee ensemble. Among the pieces that will be performed is Philip Glass’ Satyagraha -named for the non-violent movement started by Gandhi–which will be performed on the cathedral’s majestic 3,586-pipe organ. Also included in the concert are works by Estonian composer Arvo Part, Grammy-winning Argentian Osvaldo Golijov, and Alexandra du Bois, who will be premiering a piece based on a Navajo healing prayer.
