Rasputina and Faun Fables at Shank Hall
Cellist Melora Creager is a former member of alt-rock band Ultra Vivid Scene and toured with Nirvana circa In Utero, but she’s created something unique with her eccentric, highly theatrical chamber-rock group Rasputina. Creager’s love of history (and especially America’s early years) is front and center on the trio’s stripped-down 2010 album, Sister Kinderhook, evident in its songs about sailors, colonists, feral children, and particularly on “Calico Indians,” which chronicles the Anti-Rent Wars of 1844.
