Although Reel Big Fish has attempted to alter its sound over the years, the band’s marriage of horn-fueled ska and goofy lyrics remains pretty much the same as it was back in the ’90s. The group’s 2007 release, Monkeys For Nothin’ And The Chimps For Free, freely embraced what made Reel Big Fish popular to begin with—sugary, sarcastic ska—while 2009’s Fame, Fortune, And Fornication sticks to skanked-up takes on well-worn covers. The band’s most recent release, 2012’s Candy Coated Fury, delivers even more upbeat, danceable snottiness with songs like “Everyone Else Is An Asshole” and “Your Girlfriend Sucks.”
