Sera Cahoone + Lady Cannon at Riverwest Public House
Band Of Horses is the biggest group to spring from the ashes of Carissa’s Wierd, but it’s also produced worthy new projects in Grand Archives and the solo work of drummer Sera Cahoone. She leans toward the hushed and folky on her three Sub Pop albums, including last year’s Deer Creek Canyon, which is long on the mournful, twangy vibe of Magnolia Electric Co. Opener Lady Cannon has been a favorite on the local club circuit for the past few years, thanks in part to the strong songwriting and enchanting vocals of singer Martha Cannon. Songs like the banjo-laden “When You’re Gone” and the dreamy “Still In Love” are Americana-by-way-of-Mazzy Starr done right.
