Signaldrift, Rich Dad, Pressboard, and Made Of Oak at Cactus Club
Milwaukee’s Signaldrift (a.k.a. Franz Buchholz and John Goelzer) is best known for minimal, melodic electro, which always makes for fascinating, organic listening. It also can be pretty damn danceable, in an atmospheric, ’80s-low-budget-film-score kind of way. The other electronic acts gathered for this bill—which has been cheekily billed “Monsters Of Techno”—typically are more associated with the esoteric wing of the genre rather than robotically funky jams, and extend from the world of indie rock: Pressboard and Rich Dad are side projects for members of Collections Of Colonies Of Bees, and Made Of Oak is the solo project of Nick Sanborn of Decibully and Headlights. But everyone is going to be on their most party-friendly behavior tonight, so wear comfortable shoes.
