The Tallest Man On Earth and Strand Of Oaks at The Pabst Theater
Kristian Matsson plays rollicking, acoustic folk rooted deep in the twisted musical tradition of Americana. Yet, for all the dusty country roads and Woody Guthrie-inspired troubadours called to mind by his 2010 album The Wild Hunt—Matsson’s second album as The Tallest Man On Earth—the singer-songwriter hails from Dalarna, Sweden, some 3,000 miles from the most eastern edge of the U.S. Matsson has a reedy voice and a flair for poetic imagery that fall squarely under the heading of “Dylanesque,” but there’s an unhinged energy to tracks like “You’re Going Back” and “King Of Spain” that Dylan himself didn’t utilize until his Rolling Thunder Revue days. Mattson appears here behind his newest LP, There’s No Leaving Now.
