Testament, Overkill, Flotsam And Jetsam, and 4Arm at The Rave/Eagles Ballroom
Testament emerged during metal’s mid-’80s peak and fits the mold with thrashy guitars, a dour outlook, and Chuck Billy’s rough, appropriately satanic voice. The passing of time hasn’t really changed the group’s sound, as it continues to pump out the same whipping hard rock it always has. Despite unfavorable Metallica comparisons, Testament never stopped putting out records; its most recent album is 2012’s appropriately titled (and well-received) Dark Roots Of Earth, which finds the group returning to its thrash roots and reuniting with drummer Gene Hoglan, who last sat in on 1997’s Demonic.
