Trapper Schoepp And The Shades, 4onthefloor, and Midnight Reruns at Cactus Club

The last few years have been a whirlwind for Milwaukee roots-rockers Trapper Schoepp And The Shades. The group released its third album—the excellent Run, Engine, Run—back in November 2011, and spent the first half of 2012 playing Summerfest, dozens of club shows, and even a Michigan gig with special guest Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum. Then, in the summer of 2012, the band signed to L.A.-based indie label SideOneDummy Records, home to such diverse acts as The Gaslight Anthem, Flogging Molly, Gogol Bordello, and 7 Seconds. A reissue of Run, Engine, Run and a high-profile tour with The Wallflowers followed, giving Schoepp and his trusty Shades a boat-load of national attention unknown to most Milwaukee groups. Happily, that exposure is well-earned, as the band is one of the city’s most accessible and effortlessly likable.
