Madison band Zebras hit the mark with 2009's fine seven-song set Parasitic Clones Under The Strong Arm Of The Robot Machine. Recorded by Shane Hochstetler of Milwaukee band Call Me Lightning, it just might be the sharpest, fullest-sounding introduction yet to Zebras' music: a frantic-yet-catchy collision of shrill, shrieked vocals, chromatic guitar and synth squiggles, and tightly syncopated drums to hold it all together. If you end up liking the record, don't get too attached to the band that recorded it. This show is being billed as Zebras' last for a "long time," allowing the band to step back and make itself over as it works on a new album.
