Anaba Tea Room gets its name from a Japanese word meaning, according to the restaurant's translation, "a little known but pleasing spot." The pleasing part is true, but the tea room is losing its status as “little known.” Housed below the Garden Room in Shorewood, Anaba is a quiet space with white tablecloths and warm accents—elegant but not stuffy. Anyone should feel comfortable here, with or without their pinkies extended. Sip steaming cups of Milwaukee's Rishi Tea and nibble a cranberry scone, or go whole hog and get afternoon tea—a dainty feast served on a three-tiered tray, including crumpets, tarts, and creative tea sandwiches, like cucumber and minty cream cheese.
