Nessun Dorma’s dimly lit, lived-in interior defines “quaint,” and the restaurant’s fresh, homemade-tasting fare does little to dispel that impression. Formerly a tavern, Nessun Dorma has a large bar that dominates the main space, but tables tucked into the back room are ideal for quiet, romantic dinners. As the name might suggest, the menu is primarily Italian, but the food has more in common with upscale cuisine than spaghetti-and-meatball joints (aside from the prices, that is; most everything is under $10). Standouts are the paninis, including the fantastic four-cheese panini, while daily specials help reduce the danger of over-familiarity with the menu. Appetizers are refreshingly light (think bruschetta and olives) and service is pleasant, but not overly familiar.
