venue Yield
When Pearl Jam released "Yield" in 1998, critics and fans welcomed the band's return to a traditional, mainstream rock sound after "No Code's" global experimentation. You could think of Yield, the rock bar, as a similar back-to-basics adjustment to the space formerly occupied by the Dragon Lounge – Zen cocktails never quite jibed with rowdy East Side hipsters. Yield's robust jukebox rarely disappoints, and live local acts play no cover songs with no cover charge on Tuesdays. The predictable drink list won't rock your socks off, and neither will the locale – weather permitting, the roomy, bi-level bar opens onto Kenilworth's new Urban Outfitters. As far as nights out on the East Side go, Yield might not be a "Ten," but it's a solid "Vitalogy."
