Hot on the heels of 50 Cent’s announcement that he’ll be holding a festival, of sorts, on Governors Island in October, Jay-Z goes ahead and steals the limelight again, letting it be known that he’ll not only perform in an epic setting—at Madison Square Garden on September 11—but that he’ll also donate all the proceeds to the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund. Oh, and he's going to drop his new album, The Blueprint 3, that same day. Why not?
Hova’s concert comes just over a month after replacing the Beastie Boys at the top of the bill at All Points West, and it promises to be just as big—if not bigger—than his widely praised performance there. Ticket information hasn’t been released yet, but for those who aren’t able to snag what will no doubt be a really-hard-to-get ticket, Fuse TV will broadcast the entire show commercial-free. So set your DVR for September 11: Jay-Z Live From Madison Square Garden: Answer The Call. And then answer the call by sitting on your couch and watching Jay-Z.
