First we turn to Chicago: Three-day passes for Chicago's Lollapalooza (Aug. 7 through 9) are going on sale tomorrow, March 31, at 10 a.m., with no official lineup announced thus far. So those who have faith in
Perry Farrell and Austin-based C3 Presents—or
really like alleged-but-totally-not-confirmed participants like
Tool,
The Killers,
Kings Of Leon,
Jane's Addiction,
Beastie Boys, and
Depeche Mode—can shell out for the early-bird deal, $175, at
Lollapalooza's website. Everyone else will have to wait until April 21 to officially hear about the other 130 bands slated to perform, but let the numbers games begin. The blog
Faronheit claims it received a list of this year’s lineup from a C3 insider, who says the list is 90-percent accurate. It includes the previously rumored
Andrew Bird and
Neko Case, along with New York's own
Animal Collective and
TV On The Radio. Hell, even
Tenacious D is on the list. This festival comes on the heels of Pitchfork's festival, which takes place the weekend of July 17.
And if that wasn't enough festival news for one post,
All Points West is returning to New York for a second year. Held at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, the festival has the Beastie Boys, Tool and
Coldplay headlining each of the three nights. Other bands playing include
Echo & The Bunnymen,
My Bloody Valentine,
Vampire Weekend,
MGMT, and
MSTRKRFT, and the comedy lineup features
Tim & Eric,
Judah Friedlander,
Janeane Garofalo, and
Michael Showalter, among others.
