Blog Memorial for Jerry Fuchs planned for Thursday

The death of Jerry Fuchs has been greeted with all sorts of outpourings of grief and remembrance, both of Jerry as a dude and of Jerry as a drummer. He was beloved in both modes, and had been for a long time. (The story of his death in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution included our own bittersweet addition to the story, verified by Mom fishing out our old yearbook at home, that Fuchs had been voted "Friendliest" in our Walton High School class of '93.)

There'll be a chance to drink in Fuchs' memory at Enid's (560 Manhattan Ave, 718-349-3859) in Williamsburg on Thursday Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. The bar was one of his favorites in the neighborhood, and some of his friends will gather there, according to a Facebook invite, for "stories shared and hugs given. We'll listen to Jerry's music and the music Jerry loved and have a celebration for someone who truly truly deserves it. Let's face it Jerry loved a great party -- let's give him one."

Also, tonight at 10:30 p.m., Tim Sweeney's radio show Beats In Space, on WNYU 89.1 FM and streamable online, will start off with a half-hour set featuring some of Fuchs' favorite songs. So goes the message: "Demis Roussos, Fleetwood Mac, Cocteau Twins, Bell Biv DeVoe, Tears For Fears, INXS, E2-E4... we miss you Jerry!"
