  • Thu Nov 12 7 pm,
Numero's Eccentric Soul Revue at Manhattan Center - Grand Ballroom

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED; THE SHOW ON NOV. 13 AT MUSIC HALL OF WILLIAMSBURG WILL GO ON. Numero Group is an archival record label that must be filled with some of the savviest crate-diggers in the country, considering all the great music that’s been unearthed and reissued as part of its Eccentric Soul series. Defunct record labels, elusive collectors, long-forgotten artists—anything that seems forever lost to time, Numero has a way of bringing it back to life. At this celebratory show, headliner Syl Johnson is the big discovery: A bluesman and music producer from Mississippi, Johnson was the kind of guy who performed with Howlin’ Wolf before leaving the business in the ’80s. He’s back in the game now, and he’ll be playing here with similarly revived acts like The Notations, soul singer Renaldo Domino, and the venerable Harlem disco-rap figure Missy Dee.
