News Net Niagara Falls is in Toronto, apparently

Imagine he was hanging between the U.S. and Canadian falls. Sequel? Dibs E.P. credit.

Since sifting through dull newspapers, hyperbolic blogs, and overflowing RSS feeds for meaningful news can be an arduous process, News Net catches and compiles both the amusing and the significant reports that were overlooked over the week. Here are some things to think about as weekend begins.

• So Rob Ford wants subways. He wants them so badly, he’s nearly at a loss for words. Though, there is something rather poetic about it. Some may even argue it’s lyrical.

• Thankfully, Ford isn’t the only one making a creative project out of our subway lines. Local hip-hop artists N/A And Nukky Grissom released “TTC Track,” discreetly name-dropping every subway stop in their song. Think of all the ways you can fit Coxwell station into a rap! Representing Castle Frank!

• Rejoice! The Real Jerk restaurant is saved ... for now. A reprieve gave T.O.’s favourite Caribbean eatery until the end of 2012. Now everyone who’s suddenly taken an invested interest in the joint can come partake in the delicious roti fest.

• Hippo Tours’ unsightly boat buses must have had a busy 2011, marking Toronto’s record high in tourism. With Toronto’s plethora of tourist traps, it’s a mystery why Niagara Falls would be named the No. 1 thing to see while in Toronto—though the falls are majestic. We’ll give them that.

• Oh, here’s why: The Italian Stallion, himself, Sylvester Stallone is coming to Fallsview Casino to answer all of your questions about being Rocky, Rambo, and that guy who hung off of cliffs. We bet he’ll get more questions about his early porn career than he will about being American cinema’s greatest post-Capra sentimentalist.
