Atmosphere, P.O.S. make Taste Of Minnesota lineup a little less dire
More Just Announced
When we weighed the initial lineup for this year’s Taste Of Minnesota, 89.3 The Current's spotty schedule seemed the most promising, and possibly worth shelling out the $20-$30 bucks for. Things got a little brighter last week when Janelle Monáe joined the schedule—only to cancel a few days later, leaving only Minus The Bear to pick up the slack. But as soon as Soundset ended on Sunday, Taste announced the addition of some hip-hop notables that will make the cost much more tolerable (if only for one day of the festival). Rhymesayers’ Atmosphere and P.O.S. are now set to headline opening night on July 2 with indie-rock veterans The Walkmen filling in for Monáe. Taste had promised a more diverse, hip-hop-friendly lineup this year, and after the immense success of this year’s Soundset festival, throwing a pair of local rap giants into the mix was a no-brainer. This marks the first time hip-hop has been invited to Taste Of Minnesota and the first local headliner in a few years.
