Fleet Foxes
More Weekend Agenda
Glancing at the concert calendar, you can expect to see a surfeit of 89.3 The Current bumper stickers in parking lots throughout clubland on Friday. English neo-chanteuse Bat For Lashes headlines the Varsity, dance-rock unit Passion Pit plays the Triple Rock, and heartland indie staple Magnolia Electric Co. lights up the Entry. Over in St. Paul, The Black Hollies drop some fashionably retro garage rock at the Turf. Noteworthy locals Lookbook and Gospel Gossip share the stage at Sauce.

Large crowds, inadequate parking, and water-color renderings of every possible subject are on ubiquitous view this Saturday as the Uptown Art Fair, Powderhorn Art Fair, and Loring Park Art Festival take place simultaneously on the streets of Minneapolis. For fewer ceramics and more meaty toppings, there's also the Pizza Luce Block Party, featuring music by Maria Isa and Kid Dakota among others. Alt-country hero Alejandro Escovedo cuts loose at the Minnesota Zoo, while the Uptown Theatre (shitty parking alert—see above) offers late-nighters a screening of the cult classic Office Space.

On Sunday, First Avenue hosts Seattle folk-pop phenom Fleet Foxes. American Idol survivor Daughtry drops some Target-friendly angst-rock at the Cabooze—not to be confused with Dredg's show over at Station 4, which also features well-groomed dudes with serious stage scowls. Sunday is also the last day of this year's Irish Fair, rolling beer, sheep dogs, and pipe bands into a singularly awesome display of cultural edification.
