Bastille Day Block Party lineup announced

With that "freedom fries" calamity nearly eight years behind us, publicly giving it up for the French is no longer grounds for estrangement. To that end, the folks at Barbette have announced details for their annual Bastille Day Block Party, once again using the historic French populist uprising as an excuse to enjoy live music, specialty foods, street performers, an artist-oriented flea market, and more. Scheduled to appear at the rain-or-shine event on July 12 are Brooklyn-based indie act Les Sans Culottes (they sing in French! well, fake French, anyway), as well as hometowners Halloween, Alaska, Romantica, Sims (of Doomtree), The Idle Hands, and Madison-based Yid Vicious. Organizers are also touting the party as a "zero waste" event with calculated plans to reuse, recycle, and compost. Whether that agenda also includes the elimination of Eurotrash remains to be seen.
