Minnesota winters are cold and dark, and our couch is looking awfully inviting. But we refuse to take these frigid months sitting down. At least, not at home, like some kind of antisocial loser. Each week, Cabin Fever aims to give you a few good reasons to get out of the house and do something.

Indoor activity: The Little Prince, Bryant-Lake Bowl, Sundays, Jan. 16-30
Sure, you love Le Petit Prince, but have you ever seen him in the flesh? Local performer Joshua Busick brings Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s classic 1943 novella to life in a show where he plays all of the parts himself: the prince, the pilot, the rose, the fox, everybody. We haven’t seen it yet, but Busick’s past work has been well received. Plus, your chances of meeting a cool, cultured hottie who has an elephant-in-a-boa-constrictor tattoo just like yours are pretty good.

Outdoor activity: ZooCool Party, Como Zoo, Jan. 15-17
This is one of those all-ages deals, which means that if you’re too much of a wuss to brave the cold for an awesome wildlife adventure, you’re basically admitting that you aren’t as tough as a bunch of little kids. The event is free and includes guided snowshoe tours through the zoo and park (daily at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.), plus snacks, cocoa, crafts, and games upon your return. That is, if you don’t freeze in place and get eaten by a polar bear.

Chosen people activity: Minneapolis Jewish Humor Festival, Sabes JCC, Jan. 15–30
We don’t like to generalize, but history has certainly proven that folks of the Jewish persuasion are not not funny. Enjoy the best the Twin Cities’ tribe has to offer at this year’s fest, featuring stand-up, one-act plays, one-Jew shows, music, storytelling, film, and even animation. Don’t be a schmuck; get over there and go meshuga!
