It follows that after the success of shows like Ace Of Cakes and Cake Boss, cupcakes would be next in line to come into their own. (Albeit too late for the dearly departed Cake Eater Bakery—2 beautiful 4 this world! Miss u <3.) After all, one great way to wring a little more money out of something is to just start shilling a smaller and cuter version of it. For those who might have forgotten, there was a modestly successful comedy film last year called Bridesmaids, and if anyone took anything away from that movie, it was a case of the MUNCHIES during that gratuitous baking sequence AM I RIGHT LADIES? Now, Cupcake Wars has just finished its third season and, lucky for us, season three winner Abby Jimenez is building a premium cupcakery in Maple Grove. We did some investigating, and according to Google, this “Maple Grove” place is just a short half-hour drive from Minneapolis, which means you could totally swing by and get some cupcakes on your way to work and eat them like a disgusting pig in the parking lot so as to avoid the covetous stares of your cubicle neighbors.
Jimenez, who already operates Nadia Cakes in Palmdale, California, will open her second location in The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes in March, shortly after which the rest of the Shoppes will be converted into Dress Barns and Casual Male XLs. You can read more about Jimenez in WCCO’s “New MN Cupcake Shop Wins Food Network Competition,” or you can read an accurately titled piece about her on the Twin Cities Business website.
