More Music Notes

Our music scene is a busy place, with lots happening. If you don’t obsessively visit the local blogs, alt-weeklies, and other outlets, you could miss something important! That’s okay—we’re here to help with a weekly roundup of some of the more enticing news happening around town.

• This week in new videos, Dearling Physique gives us the willies with “Discipline Your Hands,” which features gorgeous art direction, fabulous knitwear, and a dark and forboding showdown between frontman Domino Davis and a mysterious woman.

• Trivia Mafia, the quiz conglomerate founded by local musicians/men about town Sean McPherson and Chuck Terhark, is bringing Name That Tune to the Aster Cafe. Every third Monday of the month, starting next week, teams will use their pop-recognition reflexes to win prizes like gift certificates, beer, and coffee.

• Chicago mash-up masters The Hood Internet found their latest inspiration in an odd place: Minnesota Beatle Project Vol. 2. The duo laid the vocals from P.O.S.’s rendition of “Dear Boy” on top of the beat from La Roux’s “In For The Kill,” and called it “Killdear.”

• Last night, the Turf Club reopened and returned to business as usual (albeit, with new management). See for yourself whether the place feels any different: Head over to our calendar for a list of all upcoming shows.
