Dessa releases new video for "Dixon's Girl"

Dessa
The album isn't even out yet, but Doomtree's Dessa already has two videos finished for songs from her solo debut A Badly Broken Code.
The video for lead single Dixon’s Girl," released on Friday, is a gorgeously shot and captivatingly creepy visual interpretation of her tale of encounters on the road. Shot by Twin Cities filmmaker Bo Hakala, who’s worked with Doomtree before on P.O.S.’ “Bleeding Hearts Club” video, and directed by Todd Cobery, the darkly scenic shots of the rap songstress alongside a cast of bizarre characters fit the song’s noir vibe excellently. As Dessa hitchhikes through the snow, she gets picked up by all manner of oddballs, creeps, and people in animal masks; unperturbed by the Lynchian nightmares that surround her, Dessa sends the message that it’s just another day in the life.
A video for another song from Code, "Poor Atlas," came out earlier this week:
A Badly Broken Code drops Jan. 19. Dessa plays a CD-release show for the album at the Fine Line Music Cafe on Jan. 22, with Jeremy Messersmith, Cecil Otter, and Aby Wolf.
