Donald Glover brings IAMDONALD to the Varsity
More Just Announced
The lovely and talented Donald Glover—star of Community, former 30 Rock writer, stand-up comedian, and rapper—is bringing his Renaissance-man grab bag of talents, skills, and general awesomeness to audiences around the nation this April and May. The IAMDONALD tour promises “an interactive experience that uses live music, comedy, and video to convey the personal experience of being me, Donald Glover. Everyone who comes to the show will leave the show my best friend.” That’s pretty specific on what audiences can expect, but in case there are any lingering questions, Glover goes on to say (via a news release), “[It’s] about not letting people define you. A lot of my fans tweet or e-mail me saying how they like that I do a lot of things and are held back by people saying, ‘You’re a writer. Why are you acting?’ or ‘You can’t rap about the show Rugrats.’ I say, ‘F**k that.’ That’s pretty much the show.”
Fuck that, indeed. The multimedia panoply will include Glover in his rap guise as Childish Gambino, plenty of nerdy humor, and, as mentioned, you get to leave the show as Glover’s best friend. What’s not to love? Mark your calendar for May 19, when he brings IAMDONALD to the Varsity Theater.
