More Music Notes
Our music scene is a busy place, with lots happening. If you don’t obsessively visit the local blogs, alt-weeklies, and other outlets, you could miss something important! That’s okay—we’re here to help with a weekly roundup of some of the more enticing news happening around town.
• Haley Bonar is self-releasing her next album, Golder, on April 19, and like so many other musicians these days, she’d like some help funding it. Her Kickstarter campaign is already more than halfway to its $8,000 goal. On the site, you can listen to a bit of “Anyway, Rattlesnake” and decide if you want to help her get the rest of the way there. This being a Kickstarter fundraiser, donations will also get you cool stuff, like a one-of-a-kind gold-leaf painting by Torey Bonar at the $5,000 mark.
• The Uptown Bar, which closed in November 2009 but had plans to move into the old Theater Antiques space, is back to square one. Finance & Commerce reports that the deal has fallen through, and the Lyndale Avenue location is available for lease once again.
• Dearling Physique is looking for three men and one woman to appear in its next video, “Hooks For Safety,” a sequel to the striking “Discipline Your Hands.” Men must be at least 5’11” in height, and women 5’7” (no shorties), and they should be available for an outdoor shoot two hours north of the Twin Cities April 2-3. Acting experience is preferred. Interested parties should send a headshot, full-body shot, brief note, and résumé to kate@letoilemagazine.com by Feb. 27.
